Volunteer 石巻でのボランチアー ２０１１年８月１２日 先日石巻に行ってきました。切欠は、ＴＶの宣伝を見て決めた。        ６月１７日に宮城多賀城市に行ってきました。 ７人のグループ「ジャマイカ大使、Miss Jamaica、大使館のスタッフ、Macka Ruffin、ジャマイカコーヒー輸入協会」でいきました。 最初は、宮城県のGovernorと打ち合わせてから多賀城に行きました。   途中で被災地の瓦礫の山、壊れている建物や車を見て驚きました。ＴＶで色んな番組で見ましたけど、言葉にならないくらいのスケールでした。 グループのメムバー達は車から降りたりして写真を撮りましたが、私は撮らなかった。なぜなら、地震と津波の前に目の前にあった瓦礫や壊れている車はその近所に住んでいる方々の大切なものだったから。 多賀城市のMayorと打ち合わせしました。   私とMackaが演奏しました。 多賀城市に着いてから被災者に声をかけましたが、私達のグループはボランティアーとし多賀城に行ったの何百分の一つで、被災者達は何百回同じ辛い話しを一つ一つのグループに説明してきましたので、あんまり話してくれなかった。だけど、ブルーマウンテン・コーヒーを飲みながら私とMackaが演奏しました。 終わったら、前人の顔が明るくなって、そこで私が被災者と写真を撮ったり、タバコを吸ったり、話しを出来たりしました。 この経験は一生に忘れません。 東北の皆さん、頑張ろう。  Miss Jamaica, Ｊｕｎｉｏｒ先, Chaperone On a yearly basis, JaLA School is trying to chose a project in order to assist Jamaican children to have access to the tools necessary for getting a good education. For Japanese nationals, this might be a bit far fetched but even in Jamaica, a small country with such a great name, there are quite a lot of unfortunete children whose parents are not able to provide sufficient financial aid to support their education for various reasons. JaLA School, along with Friends of Jamaica, is making a sincere effort to assist these children in whatever way possible through many kinds of events. We make stringent assessments on all projects so that our support will go directly to the needy children and not filtered to unacceptable places through some political organization. In the future, JaLA School and friends will register as a Non-Profit organization and connect directly with the grassroot of such problems with the hope of making it possible for an additional child to be able to get a proper education. The following pictures we taken on our visit to Jamaica in August, 2007. To respect the privacy of the participants their faces are no shown. It was just before the beginning of the new school year but we managed to make contact with the principal of the Moneage Basic School where we did simple repairs and cleaned out the facility so that the children could enjoy the first day under sanitary conditions as dipicted in the pictures below.  Junior and friends seen rearranging the chairs and desks at the Moneague Basic School (for 3 to 6year-old kids) where he and friends did voluntary services in August, 2007.  Who's got the correct answer? You? It was a totally rewarding effort and I hope you will be able to join us on a volunteering mission in the near future. |
