In Jamaica, anywhere you go after school or work there is always a domino game going. Playing Jamaican Domino is not only a game for us. It is an integral part of our culture. It provides an environment for communicating with friends, catching up on our mathematics and gives us a chance meet new people.

Most Jamaicans, man or woman, begin to play domino from a very young age . Some as young a 2 years old and by the time we are 12, we would have already mastered the craft and are champions in our own way.

So, the next time you visit Jamaica, please don't hesitate to take part in an ongoing game at the local bar or even on the beacause because everyone is always welcome to join and have fun.

Join us in Tokyo or Yokohama for a game or two when you have the time and find out more about this wonderful game "Jamaican Domino".

It was lots of fun with many first time players and the game between local Jamaicans and the staff of the Embassy of Jamaica created a memorable atmosphere when Ambassador C. C. Barnes joined the game. Above are some shots we took.

On the beach in Ocho Rios. These security guards are on their break and they couldn't wait to start a game of domino to relax their minds before getting back to work.

At a local bar in St. Ann in August, 2007. We went across the street from where we stayed and was happy to find the usual Jamaican pass-time "Domino" in progress. My Japanese friends had lots of fun but had a bit of trouble holding the dominos. After a few minutes the were good to go.

I met these guys at another local bar and it was a challenge. These guys have been playing since they were kids so it took a lot of guts to match them because I don't have much chance to meet such high level playesr here in Tokyo.
